Capt. James Franklin (1755- 1828) was an original land-grant settler of Sumner County, Tennessee. His grave was professionally restored near his homestead in 2016. History was preserved. This blog was created to advocate for the preservation of the grave site. It is a collection of rough research. I encourage you to use the search option if you are looking for specific people or places. This is an amateur blog. I welcome any clarification or corrections. Please comment. Thanks.

Hi, my name is Betsy. I live in Franklin's Reserve right across the street from the grave of Captain James Franklin. I stumbled upon it last week-end 2/18/12 with my father when we were walking the property. I thought I had discovered something no one knew about. I researched and found out the property was once owned by James Franklin and family. Not knowing if my research was correct or not I contacted a friend of mine who is a great historian. Told him where the property was and what I had researched. He went to the Library archives and told me that it was the grave of Captain James Franklin. I found this blog on Sunday and forwarded him the information. He was glad the builder was willing to help preserve the gravesite. Again, I live across the street and I am more than happy to do what I can to help your family preserve this piece of history. Please feel free to contact me at betsypier@comcast.net with any request. I've enjoyed reading the blog and about your family.

Betsy, we are excited you have reached out. Please keep an eye on the blog as we report our progress. Right now we are satisfying some DAR requirements for family membership that will then allow us to pursue DAR help for the restoration. We would love for you to be our watchful eye. I'm certain someone from our clan will be contacting you directly. Thank you so much for your comments.
